Seven Core Personal Numbers
In numerology, a common rule of thumb you’re going to encounter is: continue adding numbers together until you get a single digit number between 1 and 9.
For example: 3421 would be 3+4+2+1 = 10 Then 1+0 = 1
The only time this rule doesn’t apply is when you come across a number 11, 22, or 33. When this happens you don’t add the 1 and 1, the 2 and 2, or the 3 and 3 together – instead, the 11 becomes an 11/2, the 22 becomes a 22/4, and the 33 becomes a 33/6. We’ll talk more about this later.
We use Western Pythagorean Letters-and-Numbers Conversion Chat for the name conversion.
The seven Personality Numbers are:
- the Life Path Number
- the Destiny Number
- the Soul Number
- the Personality Number
- the Maturity Number
- the Current Name Number
- the Birth Day Number
These numbers are calculated from the full, original birth-certificate name, the date of birth, and the current first and last names used today.
The Life Path Number
Of the seven Personality Numbers, your Life Path Number is the most significant of all. It provides the most information about your character and the type of life you’ll live.
Your Life Path Number uncovers your life purpose and the path you’ve chosen to walk in this life. It indicates the kind of life experiences you’ll encounter and the lessons you’ll learn along the way.
The Life Path Number is also known as the Ruling Number, the Birth Number, the Birth Path, or the Birth Force Number.
How to calculate the Life Path Number
Your Life Path Number is calculated by adding all of the numbers in your birth date together. There are three ways to do this; however the two most commonly used methods are “adding across” and “reducing down.” Neither method is right or wrong – they’re just different. The method used is simply a matter of personal preference.
The Destiny Number
The Destiny Number is the second most significant number in your numerology chart. It is also known as the Expression Number or Name Number and it is calculated from the full, original birth-certificate name. This number reveals what you are destined to do in this life and who you are destined to become. It indicates abilities that already reside within you and must be utilized throughout the course of this life. Along with the Life Path Number, this is the number to take into consideration when choosing a career.
The full, original birth-certificate name is required to calculate the Destiny Number regardless of whether you still use that name or not.
How to calculate the Destiny Number
Convert through Western Pythagorean letters-and-numbers. Add each name separately to create individual totals and to create single-number totals unless 11, 22, or 33. Add the single totals together and continue adding together until you get a single-digit Destiny Number between 1 and 9 or master numbers.
The Soul Number
The Soul Number is the third most significant number in your numerology chart and it is also known as the Soul’s Urge, Soul’s Desire, or Heart’s Desire. It reveals what your soul needs (and desires) you to be, in order to feel complete. In other words, if you were to adopt the positive traits of this number, your soul would feel content and complete. The Soul Number is calculated from the vowels* in your birth-certificate name.
How to calculate the Soul Number
Add up the numbers that correspond to the vowels in your birth-certificate name. Add each name separately to create individual totals. Add double-digit totals together to create single-number totals. Add the single totals together (and 11, 22, and 33 where applicable) and continue adding any double-digit numbers together until you get a single-digit Soul Number between 1 and 9 or Master number.
* Y is sometimes a consonant, and other times it’s a vowel.
The Personality Number
The Personality Number is the least significant of the seven Personality Numbers. It is also known as the Outer You or the Outer Personality Number because it gives an indication as to how others perceive you and is said to represent the “outer you.” It is calculated from the consonants in your birth-certificate name.
How to calculate the Personality Number
Add the numbers in your birth-certificate name that are consonants. Add each name separately to create individual totals. Add double-digit totals together to create single-number totals. dd the single totals together (and 11, 22, and 33 where applicable) and continue adding any double-digit numbers together until you get a single-digit Soul Number between 1 and 9 or Master number.
*The Soul Number (vowels) + the Personality Number (consonants) = the Destiny Number (total name)
The Maturity Number
The Maturity Number is a very significant number in your chart because it reveals your future potential and the ultimate goal of your life. It tells you where your destiny is leading you and what you can expect from the second half of your life. It is also known at the Power Number, Attainment Number, or Realization Number. It is the number to keep in mind when making long-term goals and decisions.
The Maturity Number doesn’t kick in until maturity or midlife, from the age of 45 onwards. This is an accumulative energy and as each year passes the influence of your Maturity Number strengthens and matures. By the age of 50, you should feel its influence in your life.

The Current Name Number
The Current Name Number is the “first” and “last” name you currently use on a daily basis today. It is also known as the Minor Expression Number and for some people it’s a shortened version of the birth certificate name. For others it’s a new name altogether due to marriage, adoption, or some other reason.
The Current Name Number is an indication of the vibration you’re projecting out into the world every time you use that name. It is your “energetic signature” that brings additional personality traits, strengths, lessons, experiences, and opportunities to your existing profile of numbers.
How to calculate the Current Name Number
The Current Name Number is calculated using the exact same method used to calculate the Destiny Number. Please note, a hyphenated or compound last name is considered one name.
The Birthday Number
The Birth Day Number is simply the “day” of the month you were born on and it is otherwise known as the Day Number or the Day Born Number. It reveals additional personality traits along with specific talents and abilities that will assist you on your life path.
How to calculate the Birthday Number
Reduce the day of the month you were born to a single-digit number.
If you were born on a single-digit day, that is your Birth Day Number, and if you were born on a double-digit day, add the numbers together to get a single-digit Birth Day Number.
If you were born on the 11th or 29th, it would become an 11/2 Birth Day Number, and a birthday on the 22nd is a 22/4 Birth Day Number.
